WinterPRIDE Gay Ski Week at Whistler Part 1

March 5, 2010• bySeattle Gay Scene
Conditions on Blackcomb Mountain during Gay Ski Week 2010

Gay Ski Week Whistler kicked off on Monday March 1st, but I just got up here today. The conditions are amazing right now. The skiing is awesome but in Whistler Village it feels spring-like (I saw people jogging in shorts) but the temperature is just a bit nippy.

This evening they held one of the many after ski “après” of Gay Whistler at Bearfoot Bistro with live jazz and even a special oyster bar. The place was positively packed.

Here are some pictures from today’s après including our visit inside the exclusive Belvedere Ice Room which is kept a constant 20 below.

Driving conditions from Vancouver to Whistler were also amazingly spring-like and with the wider new ski-to-sea road it took like half the time to get up here. The straights have begun to vacate Whistler following the Winter Olympics but the gays are certainly here in force.

The Gay Whistler Pool Party is later tonight and many Gay Whistler events are still coming up this weekend including the climatic MountainTOP Snowball Party on top of Whistler Mountain with Superstar DJ Hex Hector. Saturday’s party ticket includes the gondola ride up and even a meal. Visit www.gaywhistler.com for a listing of all the events and they’ve even started booking up for 2011.
