The festivities of Gay Ski Week at Whistler continued with a Pool Party on Thursday night at Meadow Park Pool. Beach Ball Orlando it’s not, but it is nice to be able to have such an event on Whistler Mountain in their heated pool complex. As is usually the case at special gay events, the bar ran out of liquor before midnight but the organizers came through shortly after that by finding and pulling out additional bottles of vodka. It looked like attendance was lower than expected but the people that were there seemed to be having fun.
On Friday afternoon there was the Village T-Dance at GLC held from 3pm – 6pm with DJ Mark Bisson and it was quite fun and packed for a mid-day party. They gave away quite a few gifts including a brand new pair of skis. Here are photos from Friday’s Village T-Dance.
Later in the night there was a “Furrocious” Party at the Longhorn Saloon with DJ Paul Goodyear and Celebrities Night Club held a “Snowstorm” Party on Whistler with DJ Bertossi at the same time at GLC. My feelings about the Furrocious party (AKA Furry-licious) is that the party was too much like the Cuff Complex, both the music and the feel. Nothing wrong with Cuff Complex but I don’t travel hours from home for that. I am looking for a more classic circuit feel that Seattle is sadly unable to effectively produce despite our large gay population.
Over at the “Snowstorm” Party what amazed me is that people were willing to pay the steep cover only three hours before the end of the event. At 11pm there was a long line going down the stairs of people who didn’t have tickets and they were still willing to pay the $50 cover to get in. What recession?
DJ Bertossi is a rising superstar within the Vancouver DJ scene and the reasons became very apparent to me by a solid and energetic performance at Whistler’s “Snowstorm.”
Tonight, Saturday March 6, 2010 is the much anticipated MountainTOP Snowball Dance with Superstar DJ Hex Hector on top of Whistler Mountain. The party ticket includes the gondola ride up the mountain and even a meal.
More details about Gay Ski Week at Whistler is coming soon.
