And, he’s coming to town (he seems to love Seattle; he’s here at least once a year) just in time to make it easy to get your mom a Mother’s Day present…David Sedaris will be at Benaroya Hall on Sunday, May 9 at 7pm to entertain thousands of his fans and their mum’s on the Mommiest Day of the year, (and considering the career he has attained writing extensively about his late mother, it wouldn’t be that big of a shock for him to read some of his older “Mom”-centric material from his first book, Barrel Fever…)
Oh, and yeah, there ARE tickets available…everyone I talk to seems to think this has been sold out for months so people have stopped trying to get tickets, but there are plenty left! Get one for yourself and your mom, or if your mom is too far away or passed on, then buy one for a poor friend and make them dress up LIKE your mom; it could be fun! Maybe David will write about you! Also, if there is an opportunity to ask him questions, ask GOOD questions and not dumb ones. I saw Maestro Sedaris way back in 1999 at The Paramount and there were notecards and pencils on the tables so you could write down questions, which were picked up by the ushers and taken to Mr Sedaris. Everyone at my table was an unoriginal, lazy nincowpoop and didn’t even bother to write ANYTHING down so I used all the notecards on the table and had about 6 or 7 questions to hand over to the usher. You can bet I was delighted and surprised when David used three or four of my questions in the Q/A session, out of about a dozen total he answered…the trick is, try and ask something original and unusual but not weird and creepy. I remember one of my questions concerned his favorite soap opera, “One Life to Live” so you can’t use that one…think of something clever on your own, lazyass!
