Lock Up Your Booze, Your Sanity and Your Virtue; Trannyshack Returns to Chop Suey Saturday, May 8th!

April 1, 2010• byMichael Strangeways

Heklina, San Francisco’s Supreme Overlord/Lady and Merciless Mistress of Ceremonies for Trannyshack, is beaming back into Seattle on Saturday, May 8th for One Night of savage frivolity and in your face punk/drag-o’tainment. It’s at Chop Suey, (1325 E Madison on Capitol Hill), doors open at 9.30pm, the show starts at 11pm, the floors of Chop Suey will be filthy by 11.15pm (da bitchez tend to use a lot of messy props in their numbers; they get all Gallaghery with various implements and produce…), everyone will be trashed by 11.30pm and stagger home at 2am (or later, depending on after parties) and by 3am will either be in a coma or spending some time worshipping a certain porcelain goddess…Should be a fun night!

Oh, and for those Drag-O’Phobes out there, this isn’t your Old School Pageant/Lip Sync to Madonna/Whitney/Mariah and collect tips for charity type of drag (not that there is anything wrong with that, but, it’s not for everyone). The Ladiez of Trannyshack are more of the Expelled from School/Anti-Pageant/Let’s Sing Live to Nirvana/Black Flag/Björk and make a big freakin’ mess type of drag. It’s Awesome! And, joining Heklina in her Awesomeness will be local co-hostess Ursula Android, Sylvia O’Stayformore, Jackie Hell, Holy McGrail, Ben De LaCreme, Peggy L’Eggs, Paula the Swedish Housewife and many more, (I’m hoping she’s bringing Ethel Merman from S.F.; that little fireplug can SING!) You would be very foolish to not check it out…AND, it’s only $10!

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
