It’s been going on since 2004 and every year Moisture Festival gets better and bigger than the year before. The fine folks at Seattle’s annual spring ode to Comedy / Varietè / Vaudeville / Burlesque / Circus entertainment wrapped up their latest festival with performances at Hale’s Palladium in the Hale’s Brewery warehouse on Leary Way in the no-man’s land between Fremont and Ballard, and in the more intimate confines of the Falls Theatre at ACT in downtown Seattle over the weekend with a terrific variety of shows at both venues playing to crowds of delighted audiences. The “naughtier” (but not really THAT naughty) late-night burlesque shows were a particular favorite for audiences seeking entertainment of the not suitable for kids kind…And, for families there was the attraction of the family friendly shows with a heavier emphasis on clowning and the gentler, less voluptuous varietè arts. Many local acts were featured like the beloved Aerialistas and Godfrey Daniels and acts from all over the country performed as well. And, it’s starting to rival Teatro Zinzanni for in that genre of entertainment and at a MUCH MORE ECONOMICAL PRICE!!! I love the Zinzanni but it’s too expensive for most people and it’s gotten the reputation for being for corporate groups and tourists. Moisture Festival is a bargain, homegrown product for local people. I can’t wait for it to return next year. And, the growth and continued popularity of the Moisture Festival every year can only lead to the conclusion that the next step is to just tent the whole city and turn it into a big Circus for March of 2011…
Has Moisture Festival started serving a five course meal with their show like Teatro ZinZanni?
I think not.
Oh, Bill…you can do BOTH…spend your $100 at ZinZanni AND save $80 when you go to Moisture Festival and sneak some Ho-Ho's, Funyuns, and a flask of Jim Beam into the show…It's the best of both worlds!
