May 17th is Ballard’s biggest day of the year. It’s Norwegian Constitution Day and it has one of the largest Norwegian parades outside of Norway. Syttende Gay came in to existence in 2006 as a small event combining Seattle’s Scandinavian GLBT community and the annual celebration of Syttende Mai. This event has grown and evolved into an internationally promoted event.
This year Syttende returns to BalMar off NW Market St. from 5pm-8pm with a spectacular view of the parade at 6pm. There will be VIP Pass available for $7 that will get you 10% off of inspired appetizers and cocktail specials, a panoramic view of the parade, live DJ and private bar.
The festivities kick off all weekend at Changes in Wallingford with Nordic specials and festive decor. Changes will also host a post Syttende Mai Parade Party on Monday May 17 starting at 9pm.
So be sure to go out and get your Scandi-gay-vian on at one of the biggest Norwegian Constitution Day celebrations in the world.
You can RSVP for Syttende Gay over at Facebook.
