Seattle’s own Doug Miner wins the “All for Norway” reality contest TV show. Along the way participants in Norway’s “Alt for Norge” were put on a series of trials, and Doug was prepared for the challenge.
“It was completely overwhelming to realize that I had won all of Norway. The thought that I should meet my family … no, overwhelming is the only adequate word.” Doug Minor told TV Norge.
“I had no idea what I went to when I joined the program. I had quit my job to attend, and since I am a control-freak, I was afraid of what awaited me in the unknown. But – I have always been extremely proud to be Norwegian, and wanted to explore this part of my ancestry.”
In the later part of 2008, there was a national search in the US for Ethnic Norwegians – with the stipulation that they’ve never been in Norway, to compete in a reality show, testing each contestant of how Norwegian they are. As in most reality based shows, you have your typical elimination of one contestant in each episode.
The reality show was known as “Alt For Norge” (everything for Norway) a common phrase most often used in terms of European Football -Soccer games, rooting for Norwegians to win the title.
Seattle resident Doug Miner decided to give it try and was told to come to Norway to be on the program, which was filmed over a two month period in the spring of 2009. Since that time of filming, he was kept under silence, until all episodes were shown as of June 2, 2010 on Norwegian TV. In the end, he was the ultimate “winner.”

One of the other females contestants, was an open lesbian.
Recently, Doug participated in Syttende Gay at the BalMar in Seattle, with a fresh new perspective of his Norwegian heritage.
