Yesterday, I covered many of the more family friendly Pride events for Saturday, but now it’s time to focus on the stuff that’s definitely geared more towards the over 21 crowd, and brother, there is a CRAP load of options for you including beer gardens/street events that go on for two city blocks…
And, the grandmammy of street parties is the one at The Wildrose…it’s a freaking monstrosity that covers a half a block of Pike and most of the 11th Street side of the ‘rose as well; the fees, permits, and security for this must have cost a pretty penny but I’m guessing the ‘rose will make THAT back in one day…Performers/DJ’s on tap include Glass Candy, Reporter, Glitterbang, Queerbait, KEXP DJ’s Tim and Sharlese and hosting duties performed by the odd duo of Ade and Jackie Hell. The festivities start at 1pm and go on to 2am…then, they’ll hose down the street and start all over again on Sunday! Insanity!
And, if you can afford all the cover charges and get bored at the ‘rose you can wander down to Purr for their block party which starts at 2pm and features The Perry Twins a couple of apparently famous DJ’s from Los Angeles that look suspiciously like they might have escaped from a casting call for a CW teen soap opera. OR, you can meander down Pike later in the evening to Neumo’s for their RED party, a joint event put on by One Degree Productions with Lobby Bar as the official pre-bar site and Steamworks as the official after-party hangout/sex pit…they’ve brought in DJ Phil B from San Francisco and the debauchery starts at 9pm and goes on until the wee-wee hours of the morning when the lube runs out…
Straightish bars need gay money, too, so Havana is getting in on the act with a bigass, crazy event they’re calling “Hey Tranny, It’s Tranny!” (wasn’t this a cartoon on Adult Swim?). It just might be the craziest, wildest, most perverted party on the Hill with a lineup that promises us 4 bars, a champagne room, about a 100 dj’s and a thousand drag queens and performances by Ade, Jackie Hell, (who are apparently double booking since they’re also hosting across the street at The Wildrose…the greedy little bitches), Ben DeLaCreme, (also performing at the Capitol Hill Street Pride Event), Stella Rose and headliners, CJ and The Dolls from Portland…that’s a lot of crazy caca going on in one parking lot! If you’d like a ride in this handcart to hell, then show up at 8pm at Havana and tell them Seattle Gay Scene sent ya! (but don’t be surprised if they stare at you in puzzlement and fear).
Meanwhile, over on dull old Broadway, you can check out Julia’s Block Party which doesn’t sound very dull but very, very drag queeny with special appearances from half of the contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race– Raven, Morgen and Shannel, not to mention the cast from Julia’s own LeFaux show, PLUS, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, (who must get very, very tired this time of the year) including the Block Party’s host, Sister Stella Standing and the entire event is a fundraiser for the Sisters and their amazing good work they do, (they really are an AMAZING organization that work their ASSES off for lots of good causes; if you diss the Sister’s in front of me, I WILL have to cut. you. up. Word!)
As for our Lady Loving community members who desire other or additional events to attend away from The Wildrose, you have a couple of options…for ladies with a few more miles on their belt, ie are old enough to remember Billie Jean King, there’s a cool event called Hot Flash Inferno…it’s a joint event between Neighbours and HG Lodge and it’s going on from 6pm to 10pm and features the Gore Gore Girls and DJ’s Stacy and Wildfire. AND/OR you can also check out the special Pride edition of Cherry! at Re-bar with DJ Amateur Youth and Mathematix and it starts at 10pm…and, you’re responsible for bringing your own cherry…
Did I forget anything? Probably…but I’m spent AND you can check out our Pride Calendar for even more stuff to do…AND/AND, you can just assume that every other bar and club has a Pride event going on today/tonight including The Cuff, The Eagle, R Place, CC Attle’s, Pony, The Elite, The Crescent, et al…check them all out if you have the fortitude! I’ll be back later today with news about TOMORROW’S events and the Big Parade/Festival at Seattle Center…Laters.
