Three Dollar Bill Cinema announces lineup for the FREE outdoor cinema series in Cal Anderson Park!

June 3, 2010• byMichael Strangeways

One of the great things about Seattle summers, is that unlike many other cities in the summer, it’s usually very pleasant in the evening after the sun sets. Seldom hot, usually pleasantly crisp and cool, and bugs aren’t THAT big of an issue around here, as long as you bring your OFF or Avon SkinSoSoft. That’s what makes Three Dollar Bill Cinema’s outdoor, summertime, cinema series in Cal Anderson Park such a treat…that, and it’s FREE! Well, Jason, Rachael and the rest of the 3$ Gang have just announced the lineup for this summer, which they are calling, “Blonde But Not Forgotten” and it’s a doozy…check it out:

July 16: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
July 30: The Legend of Billie Jean
Aug 13: Desperately Seeking Susan
Aug 27: Candleshoe

So much to love here, and something for all tastes…classic old Hollywood film with Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell for the old timers and musical nuts; quirky 80’s alternate music comedy with a very young Madonna for the Gen X’ers; a trashy melodrama with a lesbionic icon and a SECOND family film with ANOTHER lesbionic icon…my only quibble: where are the blond MEN!!!

As stated above, the series starts Friday, July 16. More info to come as we get closer to the event…start pulling your “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” outfits together!

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
