It’s been a looooong, but fun 25 days as the 36th Annual Seattle International Film Festival comes to a close but it ain’t over yet…there’s still some must see films to check out today and tomorrow before the festival closes with the Closing Gala film, Get Low, starring Robert Duvall and Bill Murray, at the Cinerama with the gala party at the Pan Pacific Hotel Sunday night at 6:30pm, (tickets still available).
One film that is sure to incite a LOT of interest, is Israel Luna’s controversial Ticked Off Trannies with Knives, the tongue in cheek “transploitation” film that has some transgendered activists hopping mad and others celebrating it as proof that the trans community is starting to make inroads into more acceptance in the media and society in general. Regardless of the hoopla, you’ll need to make up your own mind and you can do so TONIGHT at Midnight at the Egyptian or tomorrow night at 9:30pm, also at the Egyptian. But, if angry members of the Trans community pelt you with rotten garbage, I will NOT be held accountable…
Some other choices for LGBT film fans include Room in Rome, a very sexy Sapphic love story of two women who meet in Rome and have a very intense night of makin’ da love, as well as some quality nurturing and soul searching conversation…it would be a lovely capper to a beautiful day. You can check it out tonight at 9:30pm at the Egyptian…also at the Egyptian, at 7pm is the James Franco starring Howl, the bio-pic of poet Allen Ginsberg, but that film is on RUSH, meaning no advance tickets are available, but you can stand in the Rush line (has nothing to do with anyone named “Limbaugh”) and cross your little fingers that there are lots of no-shows! (and remember, it’s CASH only in the Rush line!)
As for tomorrow, there’s the aforementioned encore of “Trannies”, and the encore presentation of Going South, another zexy film, French this time, about a road trip involving a cute male driver and the horny brother and sister team who hitch a ride in his car (and in his pants)…the French are SOOOOO good at this type of arty filth! If you want to tag along on their journey of lust, head over to SIFF Cinema at 4pm on Sunday.
That’s all for now…I’ll be back for a post-coital analysis of the Festival when it’s all said and done…
