The fun starts Thursday night, August 19 and runs THREE nights only!
It’s not a secret that I love, love, love the folks at Brown Derby Players, the Ian Bell led theater group who put on parody versions of beloved film favorites from the last thirty years featuring the best comedians and actors in town including Nick Garrison, Brandon Whitehead, Imogen Love and many, many more. Every year, their season has a theme and this year’s theme is GREAT, movie musicals from the late 70’s and 80’s (June’s production of “Purple Rain” was hysterical with a brilliant comedy and singing performance from Scott Shoemaker, lead singer of “The Quit”) and this week’s production of the beloved disco lovin’, BeeGee’s soundtrackin’, John Travolta boogyin’ hit “Saturday Night Fever” should be JUST as divine as the last show. Starring longtime Brown Derby powerhouse comedian Dusty Warren as Tony Manero, the show also features the usual list of suspects including Nick Garrison, Freddy Molitch, Imogen Love, Brandon Whitehead, MJ Sieber, Scott Shoemaker and Kim Nyhous with choreography by Diana Cardiff and tech design by Ross Whippo. SNF runs this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Re-bar, 1114 Howell Street, the doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. It’s $16 (worth every penny), CASH at the door, 21+, NO reservations and you’d better arrive EARLY to get a seat! (AND, no damn CUTTING in line, or HOLDING places in line for your LATE arriving friends; that is just BULLSH*T and makes me want to punch various hipsters in the THROAT for being so DAMN rude!!!!)
Now, I need to go and press my white polyester suit and dust off my gold chains…I’ve got some STRUTTIN’ to do!
