The Jim Carrey/Ewan McGregor gay love story/comedy “I Love You, Phillip Morris” gets a new distributor AND a new release date. The beleaguered film has had FIVE U.S. release dates in the last year and a half. The film has opened internationally, but U.S. film distributors are apparently scared off by the film’s gay content. Film is allegedly getting released December 3 just in time for Christmas! Such a nice present; who doesn’t want to see Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor do the nasty on the big screen at your local Metroplex! (though I would prefer it had been Clive Owen, Hugh Jackman, Jason Stathem and Javier Bardem in a tender 4-way prison gangbang movie…)
America’s best/least loved sex columnist/gay spokesmodel and Strangerino, Dan Savage was on Olbermann last night discussing the Ken “Larry Bud” Mehlman coming out story. Towleroad has the story. Mr Savage was not very supportive of the notorious, former RNC Chair/Bush campaign major domo/homo…
“It is tragic and it is a particularly gay tragedy because we have the option of coming out or not coming out, living with integrity, or not living with integrity, selling our souls as Ken Mehlman did, or not selling our souls. And it’s Ken Mehlman’s personal tragedy but it’s also the damage he inflicted, the role he played, it’s inexcusable. He has a lot of amends to make
Also, a note to Terry, Dan’s partner: Do NOT let him leave the house again, for a media appearance, wearing that depressing charcoal shirt! It does NOT read well on tv…unless he’s coming to discuss the death of gay disco…
Fortune Magazine, (by way of Huffington Post) has a fascinating article on the secretive world of everyone’s favorite grocery store, Trader Joe’s. Article talks about the “perky clerks” and TJ’s corporate policy of not allowing panhandlers in front of store…apparently, corporate hasn’t been to the Capitol Hill location for awhile…
In more business news, both Blockbuster Video and American Apparel are on the skids…I won’t miss Blockbuster, because WHO THE HELL RENTS MOVIES FROM A STORE ANYMORE! As for American Apparel, its loss WILL be felt in the queer/hipster community…where will Capitol Hill residents buy their over-priced, “the elastic wears out in a year”, American-made underpants and annoyingly thin t-shirts sized for anorexic, stick insects now?!?!?! Without a company, who will company founder Dov Charney (pictured) have to (allegedly) sexually harass? It’s a dilly of a pickle…
It’s late and I’m making it short: HAPPY BIRFDAY, PEE WEE! May you have 58 MORE!
