I started a feature a month or so ago called “Websites/Blogs We Love” but I haven’t done any more posts for it. I did have a short list of sites I want to mention and Tuesday night I went at looked at one of them to see if the blogger had any new postings. He had. They were more amazing than the previous ones I had read. Sometimes, when I read something by an unknown writer or experience any work from a new artist, I get tears in my eyes because it’s moving and original and exciting and fresh. That is the case with the writing of Conner Habib on his self-titled blog. It’s even more surprising when you learn what Conner does for a living. He’s a gay porn star. Many of you reading this have probably seen him in a clip on a website, or on a dvd, or in barrage of images in a Google image search. He is handsome and sexy and hairy and young and firm and nubile and he makes his living with his penis. Even people who enjoy looking at erotic films and images tend to have a negative image of the people who perform or pose for those films and images; porn stars are dumb, vain, empty-headed, drug and sex addicted, tattooed, vacuous whores with low I.Q.s, large sex organs and around the clock gym memberships. And, like all stereotypes, some porn stars are like that. And some of them happen to be brilliant writers with a big future in front of them with lots of hard work and a bit of luck. Porn stars like Conner Habib. Check out this edited down excerpt from one of his posts and go to the blog itself to read the whole piece and his other writing. It is a WRITER’S blog and not a porn blog so it’s relatively safe for work; thought the language is frank, there are no pictures of Mr Habib’s tool…though there is one relatively chaste butt shot. Enjoy. (the writing, not the butt. Well, you can enjoy that, too, if you’re that base and banal.)
Life in porn is often fun. It’s also a tremendous amount of pressure.
What To Expect
Be confident. Don’t tell everyone your real name. Make sure you go to the gym. Don’t eat carbs. Don’t eat pastries. Don’t eat. Answer all your emails. Suck your stomach in. Have a smile on your face. Be nice when someone stops you and you’re walking down the street. Don’t say anything stupid. Don’t criticize any studios. Don’t complain about your scene partners. Update your Twitter. Make sure your opinion is the official line of the gay community. Be confident. Don’t talk to guys at bars, they should talk to you. Don’t eat bread. Stand up straight. Don’t talk about your relationships on facebook. Don’t date anyone until you’re all through with this unless he’s in porn too. Don’t get to egotistical but don’t forget who you are, either. Don’t ever under any circumstances act effeminate. Accept that you’re educating the public but that it’s “just porn” at the same time. Don’t complain that your legs hurt when you’re topping. Don’t complain that your ass hurts when you’re bottoming. Cum on command. Don’t let your body slip…Dance at events. Get tested all the time…..Forget about your heart. Work on your body.
Don’t worry if what you’re doing is the right thing. Don’t ever question if it’s the right thing. Be confident. There are no morals here, there’s no imagination, it’s just porn.
Now fuck.
