A reader wrote us asking why we hadn’t covered the Varla Jean Merman show that happens TONIGHT, Sept 22 at 8:30pm at Julia’s on Broadway. There are TWO reasons, Gentle Reader: 1)We are overworked and underpaid and it’s really hard for two people to keep track of the 10,000 events going on in the Puget Sound Region of interest to LGBTQ citizens and our allies; and, 2)The Promoters of this fine event didn’t send us a press release about it. So, we’ll take some of the heat for dropping the ball, but c’mon Mr/Ms Julia’s on Broadway Show promoter: Seattle Gay Scene DOES average over 30,000 page views a month (and rising). We CAN help you promote your event by at least putting you on the Calendar and we would be more than happy to sell you an inexpensive little ad that would be seen about 10,000 times a week…hint, hint.
Anywho, the lovely and very talented daughter of Ernest Borgnine and Ethel Merman will be performing tonight at Julia’s and tickets are still available. Varla, or her alter ego Jeffrey Roberson has won many awards for Varla’s acting on stage and film, and appeared at some very prestigious venues all over the world. She’s a pretty awesome dame, too! Check her out!
