Burt ain’t dying…he’s a season regular this year! |
Forgive my tardiness Gleeks! I had a big project at work and was just able to watch Glee today.
The old Glee was back this week. The show had a plot and there was no stunt casting!
But, it was a sad episode: Kurt’s Dad Burt, has a heart attack and goes into a coma. The cast rallies around Kurt and his father. They have a singing vigil at Burt’s bedside. This causes friction, since Kurt doesn’t believe in God.
They balanced out the sad with Finn finding the face of Jesus in his grilled cheese sandwich. Finn prays for several things and they come true. At the end he realizes it was just coincidence and that his cheesy lord has no power.
What a dumbass. |
It was ballad night with most of the songs being on the slower side. Puck started the show out by singing “Only the Good Die Young” by Billy Joel. He picked this song as a way to show his support for the Jewish religion. Mercedes got to show her chops with two songs this week, “I Look to You” by Whitney Houston and “Bridge over Troubled Water” by Aretha Franklin. Damn that girl can sing! Amazing! Who do you think is the better singer, Mercedes or Rachel?
(Editor: MERCEDES!!!!)
uh, Kurt would NEVER wear white after Labor Day… |
Rachel Berry sang Barbra Streisand‘s “Papa, Can You Hear Me?” and Kurt’s number was touching, he sang “I Want to Hold Your Hand” about his father. After Finn gives up on the powers of his Grilled Cheesus he sings “Losing My Religion” by R.E.M. to the class. The show ends with the New Directions singing Joan Osborne’s “One of Us”.
Adam Lambert Cheese Sandwich…has nothing to do with Glee. We just think it’s funny. |
Some of our favorite lines:
Kurt to the class on why he doesn’t believe in God: “[God] makes me gay and then makes His followers go around saying it’s a choice, as if I’d choose to be mocked every day of my life.” (This quote is powerful due to the recent suicide tragedies.)
Tina: Last week we were too sexy, this week we’re too religious — we can’t win.
Brittany: Now I know how Miley feels.
Kurt: I don’t believe in God, Dad. But I believe in you, and I believe in us.
Mercedes (to Kurt on going to church): You get to wear a fabulous hat.
Kurt: You had me at fabulous hat
Who do you think has the best one-liners? Sue or Brittany?
