Our Hostess Heklina looks ravishing in purple. |
It was fierce, crowded and HOT at Chop Suey last Saturday night, as the fag-a-rotti of Seattle flocked to the Trannyshack Seattle show…and, they dressed to the 69’s. I’m not sure who was more outrageously attired, the cast of the show or some members of the audience. There were some cuh-razy outfits and it’s still a week to Halloween…I’m guessing some of these folks have MULTIPLE changes of outfits for the week; wouldn’t want to be seen TWICE in one season in the same get-up…
The awesomeness of “Ethel Merman” singing LIVE! |
And, this was a sexy, filthy show with cutting edge punk/drag/performance art sets by some fantastic performers. Trannyshack Directorix/Founder Heklina presided over the festivities with co-hosting shared by Seattle’s very own Ursula Android. Heklina had to race to the show after attending the screening of “Baby Jane?” at Central Cinema, one of the films presented at the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival this year…Heklina had a role in the dragtastic parody of the beloved Bette Davis/Joan Crawford horror film, “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” and participated in a Q/A sessions after the film with her co-star/fellow Trannyshack performer “Ethel Merman”.
Jinx Monsoon has the Twinkiest Pies in Seattle as she channels Mrs Lovett from Sweeney Todd. |
Both Heklina and Ethel performed powerful opening numbers at Trannyshack Seattle: the Halloween Edition but the sets getting the most buzz were powerful numbers from some newer talent including first time Trannyshack performer, Jinx Monsoon who wowed the audience with her version of Stephen Sondheim’s “The Worst Pies in London” from the musical “Sweeney Todd”. Jinx “fagged” up the lyrics and served some of her awful pies to the crowd and won them over with her sharp, theatrical performance. A star of “Trannyshack L.A.”, Fade-Dra made his Seattle debut with a crazy, punk number that included a big heavy prop ($50 to fly it up with him from L.A.) and a fierce, modern take on the art of performance drag. We wanna see more performers like Fade-Dra, please!
L.A.’s amazing Fade-Dra is a performance artist worth seeing…also, scary as hell! |
Other favorites were performed by local diva Ade and her big circus themed production number of Pat Benatar’s “Hell is for Children” and Maxine de la Cunt’s sexy go-go boy enhanced sync to L.A. Kendall’s “Give it to me, Baby”. Powerhouse belter Ethel Merman closed out the show with her second number, asking Seattle “Do I Love You?” and I know the answer is a big fat YES!
Ade seems to think Hell is for Children…she also had amazing production values in her number. |
Another shot from Ade’s number. |
Jackie Hell is for Children. |
Maxine de la Cunt seals the deal with a kiss… |
If this wasn’t a “family” website, I’d make a rude caption like, “Oooh, it’s Maxine delaCunt Sammitch!” |
Ursula kills irritating Capitol Hill yuppie family who complain about nightlife noise. I love Ursula Android. I hate asshats who move to nightlife areas and bitch about the noise. |
Heklina masks now on sale at Rite-Aid! |
Great show…Heklina has threatened to cut back on her out of town shows; hopefully that doesn’t mean she’ll stop coming to Seattle. It would be criminal.
Sylvia is off the Bacon and craving the Beef… |
Her name’s Fuque…Mercy Fuque…don’t ever forget it. |
