I promised a ticket giveaway yesterday and I don’t want to disappoint fans of Joey Arias and his incredible channeling of the legendary Billie Holiday. Mr Arias, courtesy of Paula, the Swedish Housewife and The Triple Door is bringing his Holiday inspired cabaret show, “Strange Fruit” to town next Tuesday, October 12 for one night only. And, someone is going to win a pair of tickets to the show, but only if you can meet the trivia challenge. First person to correctly give us the correct answer wins the tickets. Joey Arias first gained attention in the alternative arts scene in New York in the late 70’s and early 80’s with collaborations with a number of talented and unusual artists including David Bowie and the whole 80’s club scene but got a lot of attention for his work with a noted German performance artist who has a cult following to this day. Joey Arias is in fact, the executor of this artist’s estate and continues to honor him with yearly festivals in his honor. Name this highly unusual and influential German performance artist who was one of the first celebrity casualties of AIDS.
