Christ-tak-ular Bacon Strip
This week has been a little crazy because the Italian and I decided to do a family portrait. For the first time in my life I am actually in a relationship during the holidays and have a small little family of two terriers named Bella and Elli. It is kind of a milestone for me and I am very excited to share the holidays with the Italian and our two girls. The Italian and I were out shopping earlier and found some cute doggy shirts for the season and thought it would be fun to do a family shot. The dogs really hate any kind of clothing we put on them. It reminds me of the time growing up when mother use to dress us up in holiday outfits for our Christmas card picture. Eventually she gave up on taking the Christmas pictures. So the Italian and I set up the Instamatic on a self timer and tried it several times. We finally got one we agreed on. So I’m attaching this one of our outtakes. I love this one of the girls. You can all most hear them say “OK are we done now?!”
This holiday season the Italian and I will be making some traditional Italian cookies that his grandmother used to make when he was a child. She used to call them bow cookies which was her interpretation because they were cookies tied into a bow. Unfortunately her recipe is not complete. So the Italian looked to his favorite chef Lidia Bastianich to see if she had the same cookies and she did. So off to the kitchen I go to attempt to make some Fried Ribbon Cookies….. If you would like the recipe check out www.lidiasitaly.com
This season take time out and write some hand written notes to your friends and family. My drag mom, Pound Cake writes me a hand written note each month. Sometimes it is frustrating to read and understand, kind of like my grandmothers handwriting but it feels good to know that he takes the time out of his busy schedule to write to me. So take time out of your busy schedule and write those Christmas Cards out and put a little note in each. They will appreciate it like I appreciate the notes from Pound Cake.
Spreading of Holiday cheer, if you don’t have any plans this weekend and next and are looking for great options feel free to show up to my late night show at Open Circle Theater this Friday the 10th. Tickets for the Sylvia and Tor show are half off if you buy tickets for the Judy Garland Christmas Special. Also Next Thursday 16th we do our Holiday Cabaret for no cover at Orient Express.
Please take the time out for yourself this year and sit down and count the blessings that you have. Enjoy the time you have with others and breathe. I would like to thank all of you…My new wonderful friends Happy Holidays and I hope that your 2011 is amazing and wonderful!
