I believe wholeheartedly in Sun Tsu’s long used platitude: “Know Your Enemy.” When I see things like this out there, I become absolutely obsessed with knowing more about them, and the way they think, because in order to defeat an enemy, you have to know how they do what they do, and why they do it.
It would be an extraordinary understatement for me to say that this is “troubling” – it is in fact, a jaw-dropping, painful reminder that there are cultures around the world that believe that being gay is synonymous with being a sexual predator. Never mind that every reputable medical and psychiatric organization on the planet has denounced any causal link between the two, and law enforcement statistics have for decades have shown that incidents of child rape or molestation are overwhelmingly committed by heterosexual males, regardless of victim’s gender.
Rachel Maddow takes Ugandan MP David Bahati to task on her show last night on a bill proposed to the Ugandan parliament that would make homosexuality an offense punishable by death. Mr. Bahati’s association with a profoundly Fundamentalist Christian group called “The Family” and his affiliation with members of the organization in Washington DC, including a number of members of the US Congress (at their “C” Street Compound, famous for the number of adulterous Congressmen who have kept company with them) have made him not just some wing-nut in a third world country, but a grim reminder of the disgusting, bile-filled hatred that Fundamental Christianity can wreak when it is left unchecked.
This level of Fundy, hate-filled Christianity is hard to beat. Why? Because they don’t use facts or science to substantiate their assertions – they use fear and outright lies.
Here is Rachel Maddow’s 2-Part interview with David Bahati. It’s tough to watch.

Seriously, know your enemies. One more from Sun Tsu – “Never will those who wage war tire of deception.”
