New Voices 10 at ACT features the best local musical theater stars in Seattle.

January 1, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Nick Garrison in a previous installment of New Voices.

Brandon Ivie, the Gregory Award winning impressario is bringing the 10th installment of New Voices, his showcase for the best local musical theater talent in town to ACT’s Falls Theatre this coming Monday, January 3. Hosted by Mr Ivie with musical direction by fellow Gregory Award winner, RJ Tancioco, New Voices brings together that talent and some fresh, smart witty songs…we’re not talking about a night of old standards, but a combination of classic and modern show tunes and fresh new work from new artists…

An exciting blend of Sondheim and pop/rock, this next generation of composers is turning Broadway on its ear with musicals about ADD, grunge bands, red-heads, and ritalin. Performed by some of Seattle’s hottest talent, join us for an evening of showtunes your grandma would not approve of.

They even have a warning on the website that “Some material may not be suitable for younger audiences.” But, I’m also wondering if some of ACT’s OLDER subscribers might get their wigs flipped if anyone starts singing numbers from Green Day’s Broadway musical, American Idiot!

And, check out the scheduled line up for this show; it’s pretty awesome:
