The SAG Awards were last night…who cares who won; let’s talk about the CLOTHES!

January 31, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Amber Riley in Anne Barge.

Big Girls don’t have to cry when they look this good. It fits, it’s dramatic but it’s not afraid to admit that she’s a “Big Girl”. Love Amber and love her in this dress.

Annette Benning in Tony Ward.

The metallic look can be scary, but Mrs Beatty looks classically awesome in this dress. Too bad she’s not winning many awards this year, but at least she looks amazing.

Claire Danes in Louis Vuitton.

Not a huge fan of Claire Danes, (she’s so damn vanilla) and she’s standing there like a cough drop but I’m likin’ this Louis Vuitton dress mainly because it’s a print dress on the Red Carpet and it’s a print dress that WORKS.

Hailee Steinfeld in Prada.

Some fashion bitchez have been giving Hailee crap about this dress saying it’s too cazh for the Red Carpet. I say eff them! She’s what, 14 or 15? I think she looks fresh and charming yet bold and fashion forward without looking too twee and princess-y like most tweens who walk the RC. She’s showing some real “Grit” here…heh, heh.

Heather Morris in Romona Keveza.

Not a big fan of the very popular “Nude” look this season, (also: what a racist term…) but Heather Morris is rocking it. It’s not the most original dress in the world, but it looks good on Heather and we’re just happy that the “Glee” girls are finally, maybe, starting to put their acts together on the RC. Some of them have been trainwrecks and some, still are…looking at you Jenna Ushkowitz!

Helena Bonham Carter in Marc Jacobs.

Helena gets a lot of crap for her crazy goth mama fashion…we think she’s always awesome, even when it doesn’t necessarily work. Here, it does work. It’s out there, but a restrained out there. And, we love the fact she needs eyeglasses and isn’t afraid to admit it. Also have a sneaky suspicion that she would be SUPER fun to party with…lots of fun spirited bitching and boozing.

Juliana Margulies in YSL.

Sometimes, simple is best. She’s a gorgeous column of red. And, the hair/make-up/styling is perfect. Classy.

Mila Kunis in Alexander McQueen.

There’s been snipping that this looks like Carrie Post-Prom Trauma but I disagree. It’s dramatic and exciting and dreamy…she looks like a real star here. Who woulda thought that the whiny little bitch from “That 70’s Show” would end up so amazing? We love her, and this dress!

Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta.

There are two winners of the most improved on the RC contest and here’s the first. Tina Fey is not comfortable with high fashion, and, in the past, it has shown with her poor choices and lack of RC finesse. But, she’s upped her game. The dress is amazing and she is wearing it with confidence and pride. We’re guessing she’s started feeling more comfortable on the RC…that, and she found a better stylist who knows how to dress her.

January Jones in Carolina Herrera.

WOW! What happened to January?!?!? She has made many, many disastrous choices on the Red Carpet in her many previous visits. For being a beautiful girl who looks amazing in her 60’s fashions on “Mad Men” she is usually a mess in real life. This time, she has a bold dramatic dress that fits her and the hair/make-up/styling is perfect! She didn’t win any awards at the SAG’s but she did win a Most Improved Award from SGS…
