Our Empress Queen, Her Holiness St. Oprah of Chicago is bidding farewell to her 25 year old television talk show today with her very last Oprah episode ever. (Well, in this incarnation…she’s coming back in 2012 with a new show on her own network, OWN.) Monday and Tuesday were devoted to the huge farewell celebration/anointing at Chicago’s United Center with an audience and cast of thousands including lots of huge celebrities like Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Maya Angelou, Will Smith and Mrs. Smith, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, the Pope, Queen Elizabeth, Eleanor Roosevelt and a special appearance by Jesus of Nazareth. It was a Big Show.
Today is the Last Show and it’s allegedly more intimate and less starry. It airs at 4pm our time and the lovely folks at The BottleNeck Lounge, 2328 E Madison St, are throwing Oprah an impromptu Farewell Party:
Join us at The BottleNeck Lounge for Oprah’s Final Episode! Titillated as we always are by words such as ‘last’ and “finale” we’re more than delighted to drop everything in order to watch Oprah’s final moments on the flat screen TV. Doors at 3:30, show at 4 PM and yes, there will be lots of high fiving and maybe even some hugging. We’ve got Kevin behind the bar, hot pretzels at the ready (Oprah would want it that way) and her ULTIMATE FAVORITE COCKTAIL (The Moscow Mule) on special throughout Happy Hour (which ends at 6). See you this afternoon!
Grab your “Gayle” and “Steadman” and head on down and prepare to weep into your Mules…
Just don’t invite this guy:
A Toast to Miss Winfrey!
