Our family consists of the Italian and myself, and two little terriers. The weather is finally getting better, So at the end of this month the Italian and I are taking a trip for long weekend at the beach. We are bringing our two dogs along and I thought I would talk about a few things that are good practice when bringing your dogs on vacation.
Beach Etiquette for Dog Owners
– Always keep your dog leashed when there is a leash law
– Always clean up after your dog by using a poop bag or pooper scooper
– Do not let your dog visit with other beach-goers or dogs, unless welcomed
– If using an official off-leash area, your dog needs to be well-behaved and must listen to your verbal commands.
– In an off-leash area, always pay attention to your dog.
Etiquette Tips for Dogs at Outdoor Restaurants
– Make sure your pooch is well-behaved around other people and especially children.
– Leash your four-legged friend and keep him or her from socializing with other diners or employees, unless welcomed.
– Try to keep your dog close to your table or chair so he or she is not in the waiter’s path. Dogs are not allowed on the chairs or tables.
– Bring your own doggie bowl or ask the waiter for a paper or plastic bowl or cup for water if necessary. Pets are not permitted to eat or drink out of restaurant glasses or dishes, unless they are disposable.
– Remember to tie your dog to your chair and not a table. A dog tied to a table can result in spilled drinks or food if he or she is strong enough to make the table move.
– Always call ahead or ask first to make sure an establishment allow dogs at their outdoor tables.
Just a few helpful hints for your poaches out in public.
We are planning on bringing their beds and treats and toys. We will be sharing the space with other friend’s dogs. It should be a fun weekend with our own kind of families. All we have to do is cross our fingers now and hope for good weather!
