Press Release of The Day: WHAT popular Olympic event is coming to Everett next year?

August 30, 2011• bySeattle Gay Scene

Just got this Press Release from Comcast Arena:

Join Us Tuesday, September 6 to Hear Our Exciting News
Who: Global Spectrum invites you to a press conference with Governor Christine Gregoire,
Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon and City of Everett Mayor Ray
Stephanson
When: Tuesday, September 6 at 9:30 am
What: Major international sporting event announcement. The three will unveil details for one
of the most popular summer Olympic sports events, which will be held in Everett in
spring 2012. Don’t miss the announcement!

OK. The Governor is schlepping up from Olympia so it must be a big event that’s going to generate some badly needed dollaz and publicity to the state. And, it involves Comcast Arena apparently, so unless they’re installing a pool in the arena, that lets out swimming and diving. And, by the process of elimination, that leaves Gymnastics which is the only other Summer Olympic Event that gets lots of people tingly with excitement capable of being held in the Arena.

Which means we better be seeing some of this, come next Spring:

This would also be acceptable:

Women’s gymnastics will also be grudgingly acknowledged as a popular alternative.

If it turns out to be something lame like baton twirling I will kick someone in the nuts.
