It’s been the worst kept secret on the Hill for the last couple of weeks; we’ve already discussed it more than once, and it was announced at Bacon Strip AND at Le Faux last weekend, but Le Faux, the weekend drag celebrity show at Julia’s on Broadway officially announced today that beloved rising starlet Jinkx Monsoon, aka Jerick Hoffer is the new host for Le Faux replacing the beloved Mama Tits aka Brian Daniel Peters, who moves on to the new hot night, “ElektroPOP” at The Baltic Room. Mama’s last official Le Faux is next Friday, Oct 28 and Ms Monsoon assumes her duties starting Friday, November 11, 2011.
We’ve known that this was in the works for quite awhile and we think it’s an exciting new direction for both Le Faux and for Jinkx. Le Faux is a Vegas style drag show and Jinkx is a Broadway style performer…it could be exciting to see how they mesh. It’ll also be interesting to see how Le Faux’s audience reacts…the typical Le Faux audience is not LGBTQ. Will straight audiences embrace a young queen who doesn’t really do celebrity impersonations, sings live instead of lip sync, and prefers Sondheim to Cher? Time will tell.
(Fans of Jerick Hoffer’s ACTING abilities need not worry…we hear Mr. Hoffer has a big role coming up next year; once we know more and have the ok to talk about it, we’ll get you the skinny on those details. And, we’re thrilled that Jerick is pursuing both tracks of his career. We adore Jinkx, but Jerick is pretty amazing as well.)
For fans of press releases, here ya go!
