Oh, dear. Our Fan Boy/Girl Readers should put some sort of plastic covering on their chair before watching this. There WILL be some seat wetting as they squirm in delight at the new trailer for Peter Jackson’s upcoming film, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” coming to cinemas NEXT December, the first half of the adaptation of Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”. It stars Martin Freeman, as young Bilbo, with a cameo from Ian Holm as OLD Bilbo, from “The Lord of the Rings” telling his tale. And, yes, as you all know, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee, Ian Holm, Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom all return as well, even though some of the characters they play, DON’T actually appear in “The Hobbit”. But, Ian McKellen is front and center again as Gandalf and the divine Andy Serkis returns as the equally divinely slimy Gollum. (Hint: Don’t panic as you watch the trailer…Gollum WILL eventually pop up, at the end…)
“The Hobbit” is still filming in New Zealand and part one opens on December 14, 2012 and part two, “There and Back Again” on December 13, 2013…unless the world has ended in the meanwhile.
