SIFF announces Opening Gala Film for 2012: Local filmmaker Lynn Shelton’s “Your Sister’s Sister”.

January 20, 2012• bySeattle Gay Scene

Emily Blunt and Rosemarie DeWitt star in Lynn Shelton's "Your Sister's Sister", the Opening Gala Film for SIFF 2012.

It’s nice when local filmmakers are honored and appreciated. Lynn Shelton had a surprise indie hit with her last film, “Humpday” and now she even has some name stars in her latest film, “Your Sister’s Sister”. Hopefully, some of them are coming to SIFF this year.

The film revolves around a pair of sisters, a funeral, and a man (played by “Humpday” star Mark Duplass) and takes place in Seattle and the San Juan Islands. Most of the crew and many of the supporting cast are Seattle based.

Check out the press release. Yes, you can buy your SIFF passes and Red Carpet Opening Gala tickets NOW at big discounts. The Seattle International Film Festival is just around the corner. Hopefully, the snow will be gone by then…

SIFF is thrilled to announce the selection of Your Sister’s Sister as the Opening Night Film to kick off the 38th Seattle International Film Festival, May 17-June 10. The film marks SIFF’s first opening selection locally produced and shot by a Seattle filmmaker.

Your Sister’s Sister, written and directed by Seattle’s Lynn Shelton (Humpday) and starring Emily Blunt, Rosemarie DeWitt and Mark Duplass, will be the centerpiece of SIFF’s 38th Opening Night Gala and Red Carpet Experience, which will offer an exclusive screening of the film before it hits theatres this summer through IFC’s Sundance Selects. Click here to read the entire press release.

Tickets are now on sale for Opening Night and are sure to sell out so get yours now! And in celebration of our opening night announcement, we’re also extending our deepest early bird discounts (more than 40%) for the 2012 festival through Monday. Click here to see all of our passes and ticket packages!
