Apparently, they’ve learned to love the road…The Pet Shop Boys didn’t really tour much back in their 1980’s heyday; their first tour didn’t happen until 1989. The Boys last made a stop in Seattle in September of 2009 on their Pandemonium Tour appearing at The Moore but they’ll be back in October of 2013. In support of their latest album, Electric (to be released July 15), the Boys are embarking on a world tour to support the new work, not surprisingly called “The Electric Tour” with 18 stops scheduled in the US including a West Coast sweep that includes Vancouver, B.C., Portland, Oakland, L.A. and San Diego.
This time, Neil and Chris have been upgraded to the delights of The Paramount; (no offense to The Moore, but, it is a bit dumpy…) for the show scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Tickets go on sale on Friday. The album is the first on their own label, X2 (pronounced “Times Two”) after the Boys ended their 28 year long relationship with Parlophone.
We’re guessing that the show will obviously emphasize the new stuff but they’ll pay a visit to the “classic” stuff, too. Fans could riot if they don’t hear “West End Girls”, “Opportunities”, “It’s a Sin”, “Love Comes Quickly”, “Go West”, and “What Have I Done To Deserve This?”
The video for the first single “Axis” is out now…it’s VERY electronica and has an 80’s movie soundtrack/Giorgio Moroder vibe thing going on…don’t expect many lyrics.
