It’s like Gay Xmas…it’s time for “The Snatch Game” episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, the beloved annual event where the contestants of the also beloved drag queen competition show on LOGO, impersonate famous celebrities in a blatant rip-off of the 70s game show, “The Match Game”. And, despite the fact that the majority of the contestants are HORRID at celebrity impersonation and they are either just blandly mediocre or car crashingly terrible, we still love this annual ritual just for the hope that a Carol Channing inspired Pandora Boxxx, or a Lil Edie Beale channeling Jinkx Monsoon will dazzle us all.
If you wanna watch this episode of RPDR, you have many options including a BenDeLaCreme hosted special event at Century Ballroom…yes, you can watch the episode WITH an actual contestant on this season and it’s FREE to attend! (Psst: Ben is doing Dame Maggie Smith for “Snatch Game”….swoon!) The doors open at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 8:30 pm and the actual episode begins airing at 9 pm. Join Ben, and co-host Sarah Rudinoff and a bevy of weekly guest stars including this week’s VERY special guest, Season 5 RPDR winner/Seattle’s own JINKX MONSOON! (More swoon….)
If that’s too swoony and crowded for you, head around the corner to Lobby Bar for their weekly party hosted by Lily Armani & Glamazonia. It’s been an annual event since RPDR started back in the late 60s. It starts at 8 pm.
If you REALLY don’t fancy heading to the Hill, then you can head to Belltown for a viewing party at the Rendezvous hosted by Oliva LaGarce and DJ Tony Burns. This shindig starts at 7 pm and all these viewing parties include drink specials, performances and general insanity…but, you gotta keep your mouth shut during the actual episode!!!
Oh, and at the Century Ballroom show you also get to check out the latest episode of local filmmaker Wes Hurley’s new CAPITOL HILL webseries which stars Waxie Moon and pretty much everyone in Seattle including BenDeLaCreme who introduces every new episode. Episode 4 will debut tonight, exclusively at the Century Ballroom party. And, FYI, the new episode then debuts online a week later, so Episode 3 went live today. Check it out:
As for “Snatch Game”, may the best Snatch, WIN!
(As long as it’s not that awful Adore Delano…we hate her.)
