Spring is a time for fresh flowers, fresh love, and fresh editions of your most trusted drag pageants. Next Saturday, April 11th, will be the day that two separate but equally as entertaining events showcase some of the best (and worst) talent in all of the great state of Washington: The Mr, Miss, & Ms Gay Washington Pageant and the annual Miss Bacon Strip Pageant.
Despite the fact that there hasn’t been an announcement of contestants, the ‘Gay Washington’ pageant is going full steam ahead. “Come cheer on all of the candidates for Mr, Miss, and Ms Gay Washington 2015-2016! This night is all about the contest for the new reign as we take our last walks,” says the event page. It will be located at the prestigious Holiday Inn Ballroom in Everett, WA with a showtime of 6pm. The cover is a whopping $45, drinks not included.
After you’ve had your fill of court queens, you can meander on back to Seattle to the Theatre Off Jackson for the annual Miss Bacon Strip Pageant, which is sponsored by Seattle Gay Scene! It’ll cost ya only $15 for pre-sale and $20 at the door (tickets are still available.) Showtime is at 10pm. This year, the contestants are:

The fearless Michael James Strangeways, the blacklisted DonnaTella Howe, the hilarious LaTrina Bidet and Burlesque legend Velvet Ice will be the celebrity guest judges and the sponsors are (aside from us) Dermaspace, Team Diva Real Estate, and the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall. Bacon Strip is a personal favorite of ours. So if nothing else, make sure you go to Bacon Strip and make fun of DonnaTella Howe, or pinch her ass, since I won’t be there to annoy her!

The contestants for Gay Washington are always announced near the end of the Out of Town Show, which is Friday April 10, 2015. They turn in applications that afternoon and upon acceptance they begin with Judges Interviews. The event page now includes the link for Candidate Applications.
The 2014-2015 Gay Washingtons have traveled all over Washington State and beyond, raised over $3,000 (and still counting) for charities such as the Spokane LGBT Center, G.L.O.B.E., Inspire Youth, Tears Foundation, Snohomish County Cocoon House, and the Gender Justice League (Gay City Health Project). We’ve also helped the Courts and other charitable organizations with their fundraising, two of the biggest being the Drag-Queen-for-a Day benefitting the Seattle Counseling Service and Salem, Oregon’s 7th Annual Red Ribbon Show benefitting the Valley AIDS Information Network.
Mr. Gay Washington 2014-2015 Sir Charlie Menace, an amazing Drag King, and Miss Gay Washington 2014-15 Brooke Lynn Bradshaw, the fiercest Drag Queen that I know, are two of the best performers in the Pacific Northwest. This year is an historic Gay Washington Pageant, for this is the first year EVER that it has been held outside of the Court of Tacoma boundaries. The Mr., Miss, and Ms. Gay Washington Pageant: A Springtime in Washington 2015 is being held at the beautiful Holiday Inn Downtown Everett. The event currently indicates over 80 attendees for the Friday night event and over 125 attendees for Saturday night. Come on out for an amazing party and find out how we put the FUN into fundraising!
