I mean, when does she find time to do her laundry or get her lip waxed or file for divorce? Gurl is BIZZEE!!
Seattle’s favorite drag queen who used to live here but moved away once she got huge has SO many gigs this spring that you need a website to help you keep track of what the little minkx is up to!
Already announced was her month long run here IN town at the Seattle Rep where she’ll be doing her show with Major Scales (still a loyal Seattleite!) from May 31st to June 23rd. You can get tickets to JINKX MONSOON & MAJOR SCALES: TOGETHER AGAIN, AGAIN! at https://www.seattlerep.org/plays/202324-season/together-again-again/performances
The Seattle Rep show was announced a year ago but since then Jinkx has announced she’ll be returning to Broadway and her role as Mama Morton in the long running musical hit CHICAGO for another short stint from June 27th through July 12th. Jinkx broke box office records when she debuted in the show last January for a 10 week run…it’s not a surprise that the “Chicago” producers were keen to have her back. “Most of my life, and my entire artistic career — I have known the roles I would play well, but I also knew the industry was not yet giving actors like me the chance to prove it,” Monsoon said in a statement. “Over the last decade, I, and queer artists like myself have been chipping away at the antiquated ideas of gender and performance — leading to my life changing run as Mama Morton in ‘Chicago.’ During that one 10-week run, I learned so much about my craft and myself — and I cannot wait to take all of that back into this role and show. I am still just a kid, in shock and awe of this wonderful world I get to be a part of.”
To keep her even busier, it was just announced this week that our Monsoon will shatter another New York Theater glass seating when she takes over the role of Audrey (the leading lady not the big mean plant) in the current hit off Broadway revival of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS! Jinkx is the first/genderqueer performer to play the role in a major New York production. Her gig starts April 2nd and she’ll be joined by Corbin Bleu as Seymour who returns to the role after an earlier stint in the show last year. They’ll replace Evan Rachel Wood and Darren Criss who leave the show on March 31st.
What she had to say about the new gig:
“Little Shop of Horrors was my favorite movie musical as a kid but Audrey is a role I considered out of the realm of possibility for me,” says Monsoon in a statement. “To get to play her in this incredible production is terribly exciting. As a drag queen who grew up watching the iconic Ellen Greene performance, I’m thrilled and honored to get to bring Audrey to life in a whole new way that also pays homage to her memorable origins.”

So, that’s a lot of Jinkx news but there’s actually more to think about…like her upcoming Dr. Who episode. Jinkx filmed a major role for the latest season of the long running British sci-fi program last year and that new season is scheduled to start airing in May. No specific date has been given for the premiere but it appears that Jinkx’s episode is the 2nd episode of the 8 episode season and titled “The Devil’s Chord”. So, Jinkx will be busy on a stage in New York or Seattle when the episode airs.
Oh, and it was just announced Jinkx will be bopping into Provincetown for ONE show only in July.
We’re hoping poor Jinkx gets a vacay after that!
