Beloved queer as a three dollar bill filmmaker/writer/superstar JOHN WATERS is really coming to Olympia Washington’s Capitol Theatre on Wednesday, March 27th to perform one of his celebrated solo shows where the Pope of Trash will deliberate:
“Is he a cautionary contrarian, a reactionary radical, or a true devil’s advocate? “
It’s being presented by the Olympia Film Society and shockingly, it’s not sold out. You can snag tickets at (VIP is sold out) at https://olympiafilmsociety.org/john-waters/
Oddly, it’s not his birthday…that’s April 22nd.
If there’s a Q&A, someone better ask him about the status of his next film which is to be an adaptation of his first novel, 2022’s “Liarmouth: A Feel Bad Romance.” It would be his first film in 20 years!
Also: if you love all things JW, go to the Academy Museum website to buy John Waters merch from his cool currently running exhibit at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles…you can get a FILTHY bath mat! https://academymuseumstore.org/collections/john-waters
More on the show:
John Waters. Is he a cautionary contrarian, a reactionary radical, or a true devil’s advocate? In this all-new, fast-moving, part-confessional, part-inquisitional comic spoken word show, the filth elder known for his “transgressive” films and his “subversive” books salutes the new gender-guerilla generation of today for doing the impossible – actually making him nervous. Together, he demands, we must form a new rainbow of rancid colors and seize back the sexual revolution from the self-righteousness of the left and the intolerance of the right. A new middle-of-the-road madness that uses humor as terrorism, wit as ammunition. A happy family of all-age, cuckoo crossover: hip-hop hippies, pansy punks, queer gangstas, down-low hos, and shit-kicking skeezers. We’re here. We sneer. Don’t get used to us. John Waters – he’s the Devil’s Advocate and his questions must be answered.
Accessible Seating:
When purchasing tickets in advance, mark “Wheelchair / Accessible.” Accessible seating sections are located on the main floor in various areas for sight, hearing, size, and mobility needs. If you are comfortable sharing your needs, email boxoffice@olympiafilmsociety.org before purchasing so we can better assist you and ensure your time at the theater is enjoyable.
