MoPop’s “Keith Haring: A Radiant Legacy” Is The Hottest Upcoming Art Event Of The Year

September 21, 2024• byMichael Strangeways

It opens in just a couple more weeks…the biggest, hottest art show of the year is opening at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture on October 12th with a big queer party! It’s KEITH HARING: A RADIANT LEGACY, a very special exhibition showcasing the celebrated gay artist who legitimatized street art in the 1980s while actively fighting for LGBT rights and action on then ongoing AIDS crisis which ultimately also ended Haring’s life.

More:

MOPOP is honored to present Keith Haring: A Radiant Legacy, a special exhibition offering an in-depth celebration of the iconic artist’s life, work, and activism from NYC to Seattle through 240+ Haring artworks and objects, a selection from Haring’s personal art collection, 20 objects from Angel Ortiz (LAII), and a community youth partnership.‍

Keith Haring: A Radiant Legacy is a Single Source Traveling Exhibition provided by PANART Connections, a Private Collection.

The exhibit will kick off with a amazing party on October 11th at MoPop’s gorgeous Sky Church that will capture the spirits of NYC club kids with terrific local performers like Bijoux and DJ Mister Sister. More info below and snag tickets to this big party at https://www.mopop.org/events/keith-haring-exhibition-opening-party

MOPOP is proud to showcase the life, work, and activism of 1980s art icon Keith Haring in Seattle this October.

Join us Friday Oct. 11 as we launch this special exhibition with an East Village, New York City-inspired dance party that captures the spirit of the early ’80s underground scene, transforming Sky Church into a vibrant tribute to Club 57, Danceteria, and The Limelight—where Punk, New Wave, Hip-Hop, dance, drag, and art collide.

Come dressed to EXPRESS and make your statement.

Featuring:

  • Hostess – Cookie Couture
  • DJ – Mister Sister (Pho Bang, Sorted, and the ONONONOS)
  • Go-Go Dancers – Rik Monstrosity and Artemis
  • Rat City Roller Dancers
  • Live Music By:
    • Bijoux – the disco brainchild of Adè A Cônnère & Jayson Kochan
    • The Fabulous Downey Brothers – an art-punk absurdist spectacle!

But, not necessarily in that order.
