They don’t normally compete but this year both Seattle Pride, who produce the annual Seattle LGBTQ+ Pride Parade and Seattle Pridefest, who produce the annual Seattle LGBTQ+ Festivals on Pride Saturday (on Capitol Hill) and Pride Sunday (at Seattle Center) have big events happening on the same day…happily, they’re scheduled so you can do both, if you so choose!
The first one is smaller-ish in scope and involves some sweat equity…Seattle Pridefest’s annual TAKING PRIDE IN CAPITOL HILL returns on Saturday morning, June 7th and to refresh your memory, it’s the annual clean-up of Capitol Hill, Seattle’s traditional LGBTQ+ neighborhood to get ready for Pride month festivities. It’s nothing too strenous; mostly picking up trash! Info and sign-up link are below:
Taking Pride in Capitol Hill is back! Kick off Pride Month with this all-volunteer event to clean the streets and sidewalks of Capitol Hill to prepare the community for all the events to come.
We provide breakfast, lunch, and t-shirt (first-come, first-served), and cleaning supplies. You provide your time, energy, and PRIDE.

The more fun stuff is in the afternoon with Seattle Pride’s annual PRIDE IN THE PARK event also happening Saturday, June 7th from Noon until 7pm. It’s the FREE, family friendly outdoor festival in Volunteer Park on the top of Capitol Hill, and the site of the city’s Pride Festival for many years prior to it moving downtown/Seattle Center. There are performances, kid friendly stuff to do, food trucks, community booths, lots of drag, and an alcohol garden for the 21+ crowd. Check out the performers in the ad.
