Seattle’s own Roq La Rue Gallery, which specializes in “Pop Surrealism, New Contemporary and Imaginative Narrative and Figurative work” is teaming up with Hi–Fructose, the New Contemporary quarterly art magazine for a very special summer show that not only showcases some exceptional modern artists but also celebrates Hi-Fructose’s 20th anniversary.

The Hi-Fructose Magazine’s Invitational opens at Roq La Rue’s new space, 117 W Denny Way Suite 217 near the corner of Denny Way and Western in the Northwest Work Lofts this coming Friday, June 13th with an opening reception from 6pm to 9pm. The show runs through August 2nd.

We’re thrilled to host Hi-Fructose magazine’s 2025 Invitational celebrating 20 Years of New Contemporary Art curated by the magazine!  Come celebrate this incredible achievement in the support and coverage of emerging and underground art over two decades, featuring an incredible selection of artists the inimitable and wildly popular art magazine has championed over the years.

“Hi-Fructose has always embraced genre-blurring approach, spotlighting artists across pop surrealism, blue-chip, lowbrow, street art, figurative, narrative, and many other styles—allowing them to converge seamlessly in one place. By highlighting of some of the remarkable artists featured between its pages over the past two decades, Hi-Fructose magazine marks a milestone, twentieth year in print with this show!” ~ Annie Owens Hi-Fructose Co-Founder

This show features artists from across the globe and in various stages of their careers.

Alvaro Naddeo, Anthony Hurd, Bella Ormseth, Bjorn Lie, Daniel “Attaboy” Seifert, Dustin Myers, Eric Werts, Esao Andrews, James Lipnickas, Laura Laine, Michael Koehler, Miles Johnston, Peter Ferguson, Syd Bee, Beth Cavener, Casey Curran, Aron Wiesenfeld, Christina Mrozik, Cinta Vidal, Amandine Urruty, Chris Berens, Amy Sol, Lee Gihun, Chet Zar, Janice Sung, Isabel Samaras, Charlie Immer, Mike Davis, Vorja Sánchez, Jennybird Alcantara, and Max Seckel

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
