November Theater Calendar Is UP!

Lot of holiday oriented theatrical productions, of course, starting now. Some of our favorite laugh-factories are back for another go. There are world premieres and off-beat musicals and updates to classic musicals, too. Check it out and get out your calendars!

Threads

Acrobatic Conundrum, www.acrobaticconundrum.com 

A tangled world, by turns emotive and exhilarating. Rope papers the walls, rope becomes an animate object in the hands of a clown, rope elevates dance-storytelling into the air. Acrobats revel in the messy knot of being connected to each other, pulling their weight, trusting, and putting their lives on the line for each other. Threads is a circus opus featuring seven performers and a musician, an exploration of connection, love, and endings — a story strung with grace and daring that will leave you inspired and curiously alive.

OMNIA Break Room (world premiere)

In a world of streamlined efficiency, the employees of OMNIA (Latin for “everything”) convene in the breakroom during their shifts. Employees feel isolated and disconnected in an environment constantly extracting the most of people, until the inhumane system creates a schism, revealing a different life on the other side.

Anything Goes

When the S.S. Reboot heads out to sea, etiquette and convention head out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love… proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, a comical disguise, and some good old-fashioned blackmail.  Songs you may know, of pop and jazz standards, but might not know were from this musical, include “Anything Goes,” “You’re the Top,” “All Through the Night,” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.”

The Nosebleed

The Nosebleed is an autobiographical play by Aya Ogawa that explores their fractured relationship with their long-deceased and enigmatic father. Through a series of turbulent, absurd, and poignantly comic vignettes, the play examines the seemingly insurmountable cultural and generational gap between Aya and their father—and the questions they now face in their own parenthood.

A Very Die Hard Christmas

If you haven’t yet seen this perennial favorite from the talented zanies, The Habit, you owe it to yourself to get on down to the Bathhouse to participate in this premium spoof for the holidays! Yes, it spoofs Die Hard (the movie) but you don’t have to have seen the movie to laugh along with these kooks.

The Pigeon Gets a Big Time Holiday Extravaganza! (world premiere)

Mo Williams adapts his book to the stage with an all-new musical. Elephant and Piggie are ready to celebrate, the Unlimited Squirrels are decking the halls, and The Pigeon might just head to the North Pole in search of the greatest gift ever. Audiences can expect catchy tunes, goofy gifts, audience antics, and heartwarming moments in this holiday adventure for kids (ages 5+) and families.

Cinderella

This isn’t quite the Cinderella you’ve seen before. Douglas Carter Beane’s adaptation of this well-loved classic invites us to build a better, kinder world together. When Ella meets a dragon-slaying young prince who is just assuming control of his government, she helps spark transformation and empower the disenfranchised in their kingdom. When the help of her fairy godmother, a pumpkin, and a little magic and humor, Ella, Prince Topher, and their generous friends will inspire and delight the whole family.

A Sherlock Carol

Scrooge is dead, to begin with, and Sherlock Holmes is seeing ghosts. Retired after Moriarty’s death, Holmes is pulled back into action because of a missing gem, strange visions, and a ghostly visitor. Unravel a twisty talk of Christmas carols in this surprising mashup of Dickens and Doyle.

The Wake of Annie Grady (world premiere)

Elf The Musical

Buddy the Elf has spent his life fulfilling his elf-ly duties in the North Pole helping Santa get ready for Christmas. The only problem is, he’s always been a little different. He stands feet above everyone else, is slower at making toys, and can’t quite fit in a standard elf-sized bed. After finding out he’s actually a human, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to discover his true identity – while also bringing a little Christmas spirit to everyone he meets.

Come From Away

When a tragic attack shuts down the skies on September 11, 2001, a small Newfoundland town finds itself hosting thousands of stranded air travelers from around the globe. A Christmas Carol

Miss Dilber’s Christmas Carol

A subversive new version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, but instead of centering on the old rich guy, it features Mrs. Dilber – the housekeeper who takes the bedclothes from his still-cooling corpse in the original – and her epic attempt to get some bedcurtains of her own in spite of a series of ghosts and other diversions on a night adjacent to the more familiar story.
