For those that vote by mail, many have already received their Absentee Ballots and are prepared to fill them out and send them in. Before you do be sure to check out the Progressive Voters Guide, in collaboration with Equal Rights Washington, which “identifies the candidates with the most progressive track records and the ballot measure positions that will protect or promote progress in Washington.” Heck, they even support a Republican for Secretary of State and I can’t say I disagree.
Gays are in real danger come November. I am telling you that if you are not scared right now, you should be. Conservative Dino Rossi, from the “GOP” party, is neck and neck (48% to 48%) with incumbent Democrat Christine Gregoire. Rossi has expressed that he would be open to rolling back a provision in the state domestic-partnership law. Certainly, gays and lesbians will suffer severely under the Excutive rule of Rossi, who as a State Senator was never shy about supporting and co-sponsoring anti-gay legislation.
So check out the Progressive Voters Guide and more importantly be sure to vote at all costs. You may be allowed to take time off from work to vote so check with your employer.
