Fruits in Suits on Wednesday night, from what I saw, was a success! I was impressed with the fact that this was the first happy hour that the organizers have attempted in Seattle. Puffin Productions are originally from LA where this type event, and their charity The Trevor Project, is very popular.
The event attracted dozens of LGBT professionals and their friends throughout the evening for a night of drinks and socializing. The fabulous Miss Tina was on hand to help everyone mix and mingle and she is just a doll. I was also impressed that the light bite hors d’ourves. They were light but they were actually served cocktail party style on trays by the catering staff throughout the night. It was the first time I have been into Fetherston Gallery and what a wonderful space it is. The gallery was very bright and open with a long window view of Pike Street. What was also nice is that it was a minimal $10 charge ($8 for GSBA) which actually included my first drink and I was told that some of the proceeds from the event go to the Trevor Project.
DJ MattStands from the Cuff was on hand to play his soft dance mix of “Chill” music that I had not heard before and he even took some time to mingle with the crowd. I sure hope they hold the next event in that same gallery because it is such a great space and centrally located on Capitol Hill. There will be another Fruits in Suits in December. I will let you know the date as soon as I get it from the organizers but from what I heard the party will be called Fruitcake and will feature a hunky Santa and his elfs.
