For those of you unaware, Mr. Strangeways is currently residing on the incorrect side of the Ship Canal and bitter about it. Yes, there are lots of lovely people out here, but it’s easy to feel cut off from queer culture. There’s not a lot of obvious queerness out this way…ONE bar is lgbtq identified; Changes in Wallingford and while Changes is ADORABLE, variety IS the spice of life.
Happily, there seems to be a new queer friendly place opening up this Saturday, January 25…THE OCTOPUS BAR opens its doors at 2109 N 45th Street and it’s just a couple doors down from Changes. It’s not a GAY bar, but it is apparently very gay friendly…like the majority of bars in Seattle. (Really, there aren’t THAT many bars in Seattle that are blatantly ANTI-gay….)
Also: Octopi are adorable. Despite the fact that they are, admittedly, delicious, you shouldn’t eat them because they are really, really intelligent.
(It’s ok to eat dumb things…like chickens and Log Cabin Republicans….)
We say, THE OCTOPUS BAR is worth a checking out….
