Are you a fan of cooking? When asked what is it that you really like to do? If your answer is “Eat” then this is a Must-See Film.
With the wit and humor of Julia Child, all the way down to a poor girl moving into Queens in New York, this is actually two stories combined into one. It is really amazing how the two stories tie into each other in this film. Most people would say, Two stories in one movie, it’s not possible, or it just won’t work. But much to my surprise, it is truly remarkable.
Meryl Streep’s performance of Julia Child is very classic and very remarkable. Her accent is a little bit off. But I do believe it is intentional. Then Amy Adams’ performance as Julie Powell, a simple American girl working at an insurance company in New York, who finds solace from life in cooking, this film will send you on a joy ride through an amazing cookbook of life and food from Paris to New York, and on the ups and downs of what being a real wife is all about. Its About finding yourself and what you like to do.
Now there is nothing I would change about the movie. It is absolutely NOT a chick-flick, although some may think so, it makes for a great date with a stranger. It will have you laughing, crying, and even smiling. I guess that all that is left to say is: “Bon Appetite”
Julie & Julia Opens in theaters everywhere this Friday, August 7th.
