If you never had the opportunity to experience Shockheaded Peter this could be the next best thing. The Tiger Lillies will be in Seattle to perform The Songs of Shockheaded Peter and Other Gory Verses at The Moore Theatre on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 8:00pm.
“It’s not surprising that their cult following is worldwide – a Tiger Lillies gig is a journey into wild emotion which passes right through melodrama and out the other side into bizarre beauty” – London Evening Standard
The Godfathers of the alt-cabaret movement return to Seattle with a show celebrating 20 years of dark and deviant theatrics.
In 2007, The Tiger Lillies wowed The Moore Theatre audience with frights and delights. Now, for the first time in years they will perform songs from their Olivier award-winning smash theatre production, Shockheaded Peter, along with a selection of numbers from their Grammy-nominated album The Gorey End and other deranged fan favorites.
With an international reputation for being the foremost avant-garde band in the world, The Tiger Lillies never cease to surprise, shock and entertain with their inimitable musical style, conjuring up the macabre magic of pre-war Berlin and fusing it with the savage edge of punk.
Here are The Tiger Lillies performing one of my favorites Snip Snip in New York City and Martin Jacques discusses why all the children die in his version of the classic poem:

Tickets to The Tiger Lillies at The Moore Theatre are just $20 and available online at www.stgpresents.org. I sometimes mention performances that are not to be missed. This would be one of them.
While this show will just be a performance of song here is a video from the shocking and dark production of Shockheaded Peter created by Julian Bleach, Anthony Cairns and Julian Crouch along with The Tiger Lillies. Sadly, you no longer can see this performed live: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOVSp-fYUQc
