It’s the second Thursday of the month so it means it’s time for Blitz, the new and improved Capitol Hill Artwalk. Dozens of Capitol Hill galleries, bars, restaurants, and shops feature local artists and their art from 5pm to 8pm (later if the venues are open past 8) and many of the artists will be on hand to answer questions or more importantly, SELL YOU SOME OF THEIR ART! Some of the venues include Bauhaus, Babeland, Rosebud, Wild Rose, Grey Gallery, Cupcake Royale and Bootyland. For a full list, go to the Blitz website where you can print out a map of this month’s walk. Be sure to stop in at Retail Therapy at 905 E Pike and check out the sexy, sexy artwork of Michelle Salazar. Her portraits of lean, rangy cowboys and six packed jocks have been previously featured at the Wild Rose, Purr, and the former LGBT Center and she’ll be on hand at Retail Therapy tonight for her opening night reception. (And, if you don’t like art, then drop in and ask her about her love for Morrissey…)
Oh, and after the walk, head to Bus Stop (1552 E Olive Way) for the after party they’re calling “Penetration”…it’ll feature audio and visual art by Dumb Eyes and the self-described “kaleidoscope freak out” starts at 9pm and goes to bar closing (2am).
Check it out.
