Beloved Lesbian/Feminist Folk Singer headlines show with opening performers, Gina Young from “Team Gina” and Camille Bloom! One Night Only!
(heh, heh…I put “Bitch” in a headline…heh, heh…)
It seems like, For Ladies Who Like Ladies Who Make Music, the variety and number of artists is steadily growing. Le Tigre, Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, Ani DiFranco, Brandi Carlile, k.d. lang have all been around for awhile and have enjoyed mainstream success but there is another talented performer that might have a little more trouble getting invited to perform at the Olympics or promote her new album on “Dancing with the Stars” or “The Tonight Show”. The talented indie folk singer and musician known as Bitch as been around for a few years and won legions of fans in and out of the LGBT community but it’s unlikely she’s going to go all corporate on us, (But she did have a memorable cameo in John Cameron Mitchell’s sexy film, Shortbus). Her earthy melodies and in your face attitude (and moniker) is going to keep her safe and sound in the alt-queercore music family, and frankly, we don’t feel much like sharing…
Bitch has just released a hot new solo album, Blasted and she is currently touring with her side project “Bitch and The Exciting Conclusion” and they’re blowing into town for a hot night of music at the luxurious Triple Door this Friday, April 16 for an 8pm show (doors open at 6pm, so you can chow down on Thai food from The Wild Ginger). Tickets are only $13 in advance, and $15 day of show and it is an All Ages event, so you can bring your 13 year old Babydyke niece…And opening for Bitch will be local favorites, Camille Bloom (most recent album, “Say Goodbye to Pretty”) and Gina Young, from Team Gina (who sadly, have recently disbanded). It should be a great show. Check it out.
