Sexo y Violencia! Two good reasons to check out Lucha VaVOOM at The Showbox in May!

April 20, 2010• byMichael Strangeways

Only in the City of Lost Angeles could they come up with the brilliant idea to combine the beloved sport of Mexican Masked Wrestling otherwise known as Lucha, with sexy burlesque queens and tongue-in-cheek comedy to form the entertainment extravaganza known as Lucha VaVOOM. Wowing audiences at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles for the last seven years, the troupe periodically pull up stakes to perform shows in NYC, Las Vegas, Chicago, Amsterdam and London. Happily, they’ve added Seattle to their schedule and the cavalcade of wrestlers, strippers, acrobats, little people and comedians will hit Seattle Sunday, May 16 at 7pm for a 21+ show at The Showbox SoDo. Ticket prices range from $25 to $45 for ringside seats. Some of the wrestlers scheduled to perform include El Bombero, Chocolate Caliente, Dirty Sanchez (I’m raising my eyebrows at that one…), Lil Cholo and the crowd pleasing Cassandro, the “Exotico” gay wrestler who has quite a bio/write-up on the VaVOOM website:

Combining class, elegance & Hollywood glamour, Cassandro is Lucha VaVOOM’s “Queen of the Ring.” He is the current Lightweight World Champion – the first exotico in history to hold that title, and, he recently appeared at the Louvre, exhibiting Lucha Libre to the hoi polloi in Paris.
Don’t let the Liberace-like extravagance fool you; Cassandro is a lethal combination of frost n’ tip and prison tattoos; you do not want (to) mess with him!

Ay Caramba! This looks like fun! Campy, sexy fun for the entire LGBT family! Hot chicks for the ladies and hot beef for the mens and bisexuals can just have a field day…better than smorgasbord at IKEA! Y’all would be foolish to not check this out.

In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
