The Stranger’s SLOG has this posting about an attack of two “gay-friendly” people at the Shell located at the very center of Capitol Hill on Broadway and Pike.
When they went outside, both of them were blindsided and my roomate had his nose broken.
When Seattle Police arrived they reportedly told the victims “that nothing much would probably come of it (even though they had the license plate of the getaway car, a rental), although this technically qualifies as a hate crime under Washington state law.”
Some of the comments mention similar incidents occurring on Capitol Hill and one poster mentions:
Police told me the same thing after my encounter at 12th & Madison.
One must ponder if this is actually inaction by the SPD or the officer’s perception that those responsible for following-up and charging perpetrators are not doing their job.
The LGBT Center hosts the Seattle Police Department LGBTQ Advisory Council but it does not sound like much is getting done there based on this article from November
He and about 200 others left with no clear answers.
Seattle Police Capt. Paul McDonaugh, head of the East Precinct that covers Capitol Hill, said the eight anti-gay incidents — including six on Capitol Hill — since June are being taken seriously.
