After 30 years of reporting gay news in the Seattle area, Robin Evans is calling it quits for his latest website lgbtQnews as his health has sadly taken a turn for the worse. In a heartfelt message Evans explained the circumstances.
I started the site [lgbtQnews] as the main item on a bucket list I’d made while going through the first course of chemotherapy for lymphoma. The chemo was successful. The cancer did come back again less than a year after the first course was completed, but the second course of chemo again knocked it into remission. As I said when I announced the site would be on ‘hiatus’, I started a third course of chemo three weeks ago when the cancer came back more aggressively (and more painfully) than ever.
Evans was an inspiration for many and, in fact, he inspired me to start this blog Seattle Gay Scene, which was originally called Gay Seattle Blogspot back in 2007, with his flawless and professional reporting on Seattle’s Tacky Tourist Blog. Robin Evans later went on to develop the local gay online source seaQwa and eventually went national with his lgtbQnews website.
Robin originally moved to Seattle to become editor of the Seattle Gay News from 1980-82. In 1982, he started another publication Lights and was its editor for an additional two years before working for Microsoft for several years.
Evans explained his current situation, which is far more important than merely keeping up with his website.
“I’m not what folks sometimes call ‘battling’ cancer. I’m merely negotiating with it to finish off a few more things that mostly have to do with visiting family and friends.”

The very best to Robin Evans – the guy is so smart and talented. He has been devoted to community work for all these years.
His journalism is impeccable, via any medium.
I know he is a native Montana guy, and I know the strong spirit and clear head that background gives one.
Keep trucking Robin. Our love honor and support.

Impeccable journalist. Those are the words I missed to describe Robin. He may have been blogging the past few years but don't let that fool you. He is a very talented journalist.
