Fran Lebowitz, Alan Cumming and Paul Constant Headline Shows At Benaroya Hall

All sorts of LGBTQ artists are invading Benaroya Hall this winter/spring…the aridly saucy writer/commentator FRAN LEBOWITZ is heading into Seattle first on Sunday, February 18th for a “conversation” with the ubiquitous Paul Constant, the former Book Dude at L’etranger and current honcho at his own self created The Seattle Review of Books. and apparently the only “bookish” person in Seattle capable of hosting literary events since he has been the host/moderator at every gawdamned one I’ve been to in the last 3 months….

Really? No one else can do this?

And, it’s always at book events for LGBTQ writers (Armistead Maupin and David Sedaris) which is really odd since Paul Constant is straight.

In May, the out bisexual actor/singer/perfume creator ALAN CUMMING is coming to Seattle to present his “Alan Cumming: Legal Immigrant” cabaret show. He’ll be backed by the Paul Constant Trio and supported by The Paul Constant Dancers. With pyrotechnics by Paul Constant.

All these things are MOSTLY true except for the snarky bits about Paul Constant singing and dancing and flinging fire about.

They are NOT true.

Alan Cumming: Legal Immigrant

Alan Cumming is beyond eclectic. He has hosted the Tony Awards, designed a perfume, made films with Stanley Kubrick, voiced a Smurf and appeared in a JAY Z video. He has been described by Time Magazine as one of the most fun people in show business, by The New York Times as a ‘bawdy, countercultural sprite’ and by The Guardianas ‘European, weird, and sexually ambiguous.’ Alan Cumming is many things to many people – renaissance man, style icon, social activist, bon viveur – but to himself he is a storyteller and provocateur for hire.

Cumming originally trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, and went on to work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre. Since then, he has made an indelible mark on theatre, TV, film, publishing and more. He has won over thirty awards for his humanitarianism and social activism, received both the Great Scot and Icon of Scotland awards from his homeland and was made an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) for his contributions to the arts and LBGT equality by Queen Elizabeth II.
