So the new season of Glee started last night and I have to say it was a little bit disappointing. Maybe it was because we just watched the entire 2nd half of season 1. We missed the big production numbers like in the “Lady Gaga” episode. That episode had 3 show-stopping numbers and included several duets or solos. We loved the “Funny Face” solo by Idina Menzel, otherwise known as Rachel’s mom.
The only big production number in the season premier was “Empire State of Mind”. It was okay, but we aren’t sure how we feel about Artie always rapping. And,did you know he used to be in boy band NLT? (Stands for “Not Like Them”)
We did enjoy the Sunshine (new cast member Charice) and Rachel sing off in the ladies room to “Telephone”. We were kind of hoping to see Finn and Sam face off in the shower!
Sunshine did do a great rendition of “Listen” from Dreamgirls for her audition into Glee Club, but she got scooped up by rival team “Vocal Adrenaline”. The new coach Dustin Goolsby, is played by local boy Cheyenne Jackson. [Editor’s Note: SGS has a big crush on Cheyenne Jackson…he is DREAMY!]
Some of our favorite quotes:
Puck: Dude, your mouth is huge. How many tennis balls can you fit in there?
Sam: I don’t know. I’ve never had balls in my mouth. Have you?
Jacob: Will Schuester, how do you respond to a recent post on my blog saying your glee clubs selections sounds like a drag queen’s ipod?
Will Schuester: Well, I tried to do something for everybody, 25% show tunes, 25% hip-hop, 25% classic rock…
Jacob: 100% gay(*We’ll take that ipod!)
Mercedes: Is that a men’s sweater?
Kurt: Fashion has no gender.(*We love Kurt’s sweater in the scene!)
Tina: (about dating Mike) He tries to be interested in what I’m interested in. Like his abs.
We can’t wait for the Britney/Brittany episode next week. Britney Spears will be making a guest appearance as herself and John Stamos, who is playing Carl Howell, Emma’s dentist boyfriend, will make his first appearance on the show. Come on Glee, wow us with some amazing numbers!
