Internet project collects and shares true LGBTQ stories and they’re stopping by Seattle tonight as part of their 50 state tour of the country.
HE’s from Driftwood…project creator Nathan Manske. |
Nathan Manske IS from Driftwood, Texas but has lived in Brooklyn, NY since 2003. In the Spring of 2009 the writer, with partner Marquise Lee and Manske’s brother Nick, launched the website, “I’m From Driftwood” with the mandate to collect and share true LGBTQ stories from around the world in an effort to help queer kids realize they aren’t alone and that all queer people share common but unique stories about growing up gay, facing discrimination and bullying, coming out, and living lives as happy, openly queer people. This fall, the “Driftwood” team embarked on a 4 month/50 state Story Tour to collect those stories in person and demonstrate that LGBTQ people are EVERYWHERE regardless of how big or small their town is.
The team has already hopscotched around the country but arrive in Seattle today and will be at Lobby Bar, 916 E. Pike Street, tonight from 6pm to 9pm to collect our stories and give Seattle a chance to meet and support their team. Here’s their video introduction to their journey:
It’s a worthy project. Check out the website and the team behind it tonight at Lobby.
