The owner of the Seattle Eagle, Keith Christensen is fighting back against the Washington State Liquor Control Board and their recent inspections of the bar and subsequent ticketing of the bar for violating regulations that prohibit establishments that serve alcohol from screening sexually provocative images to bar patrons. The Stranger broke the story last week and Seattle Gay Scene followed up, with the news that the bar was visited by the WSLCB on October 23, 2010 and was cited for showing a “Guys Gone Wild” video that featured on camera masturbation by one of the participants in the video.
Christensen is angry at what is perceived by many as unfair harassment of the bar by the WSLCB and he’s thinking of fighting back with an event at the Eagle next month to be called “THE SEATTLE EAGLE vs WSLCB..”DICKSLAP”…Dress To The Edge Of Decency” which would encourage patrons and supporters to wear the skimpiest outfits legally allowed in public. It’s tentatively set for Saturday, December 11 and Christensen hints that it could be the first of many such events.
The bar owner vented his frustration and released this information on his Facebook page Tuesday morning and we contacted him for permission to quote him and do an interview and he asked us to hold off for a bit and gave us his phone number to contact him. We did so, but he couldn’t be reached and we left a voice mail. The Capitol Hill Blog just broke the story, (much to our irritation, since we were honoring Mr Christensen’s request to sit on it and wonder if CHB had bothered to get Christensen’s ok to run the news), and now we’re sort of forced to “keep up”. We’ll just say that all this news is very tentative and can assume that Mr Christensen is speaking with his lawyers on how best to proceed. We think it wise to NOT start planning your costume for any “Dickslap” event, until the news is officially released by The Eagle.
We’ll keep you posted.
